Hello and Welcome
to Elements Preschool!
Hi! I’m Marie Schroeder, the Owner and Primary Teacher here at Elements Preschool. I’m licensed by the State of Colorado as both an early childhood teacher and director, with over 13 years of experience working with children.
I began my early childhood journey as a nanny, working with families across the Front Range in Colorado. My teaching path truly began at Sunflower Farm in Longmont, where I discovered my passion for nature-based education. Spending time outdoors is so important for children and adults alike—and something we can never have too much of!
While at Sunflower Farm, I worked with a variety of programs, including the school age homeschool enrichment program for ages 5–9, the pre-K program for ages 3–5, the summer camp for ages 5–12, and the after-school program for ages 7–11.
I believe children learn best through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. My goal is to nurture curiosity, independence, and confidence. I plan to create a warm, balanced, and safe space where children are free to explore, imagine, and discover the world around them!

Meet the Founder and Astrologer!
My name is Emilie Hilgers and I am the Founder and Astrologer at Elements Preschool. I am licensed by the state of Colorado as an Early Childhood Director and Teacher, and have 35 years of experience in early childhood education.
I have taught and directed in various Head Start programs across the country, public and private schools, owned and operated a self directed learning center called Creative Bridges for children who were homeschooled, and taught and directed at Sunflower Farm in Longmont off and on for 16 years. I've spent the last two years assisting various Boulder County child care programs as a director, assistant director, teacher and licensing liaison, along with facilitating a one day a week homeschool program out of my home.
I am thrilled to combine my additional skill set of being an Astrologer for the past 4 years to build something truly unique that meets all of my requirements of quality education, experienced teachers, small classes and soul work. Now more than ever we must give our children the tools, support, love and guidance so they can be mindful stewards and love themselves, others, and this earth.
